Vogel Drafting Inc.
Residential Drafting and Design
We are a small residential drafting firm dedicated to producing the highest quality construction drawings possible. We have experience in multiple states from Maine to North Carolina and are familiar with all the ICC codes.
Presently, located in Vermont and serve all our clients through the Northeastern United States. Using email and faxes, we can stay in constant contact with our clients and can pass drawings & sketches instantaneously anywhere in the world, opening the door to a broader range of clients.
Unlike other drafting firms, the president also has worked as a framing carpenter in the field, getting a hands on approach to actual building and "real" construction problems. Our drawings are very detail oriented and clear to read, taking the guess work out of the carpenter's hands.
Our clients include builders, home owners and Architects. We can design houses from napkin sketches or transfer renderings into working drawings. The majority of our projects are drafted in Autocad, but we can also make corrections/changes to hand drawn plans. No job is too small, from adding an addition to your house to designing and drafting an 8,000 square foot estate.
Vogel Drafting Inc. was created in January of 2000 after two members of Residential Design Group split from the firm to look for more challenging work and more artist freedom. Vogel Drafting began specializing in the design and drafting of single family homes and townhouses and relocated from Northern Virginia to the Fredericksburg Area to market the booming building market of Sposylvaina and Stafford Counties. Our long list of clients from Virginia and Maryland include Aaronal Homes, Sona Custom Homes, Pulte Homes, NVP Inc., Capital City Builders, M.E. Smith Builders, and American Heritage Homes. While working for these companies, we completed projects from North Carolina to Maine.
The bulk of the work completed by Vogel Drafting in 2006 originated anywhere from New York to Virginia proving that our location was not important. In March of 2007, Vogel Drafting relocated to Manchester, Vermont due to for family reasons and the market shift in the building industry. This did not hinder our ability to complete projects for our clients a thousand miles away or just across town.
Currently our office is located in Rupert, Vermont. We have a staff of 4 handling a range of clients from Architects, Builders, and Home Owner's. Some of our current clients include large builders like Stanley Martin Homes and nationwide clients like Pulte Homes.
Kevin Vogel's History
Kevin graduated from Central Maine Technical College with an Associates degree in Architecture and Civil Engineering in 1993. Working during college summers as a carpenter for Appalachian Log Structures out of Culpeper, Virginia, he learned hands-on carpentry by actually building houses. From framing, roofing, to dry walling and trim work; he learned the basic principles of construction.
Kevin also worked as a temporary drafter for Amerlink Log Homes in Rocky Mount, North Carolina where he designed custom log homes for clients. This stint working for a builder taught him how to create and present construction drawings in a clear and concise way. This manner of drawing is done with the builder in mind making the documents easier to read and understand. Consequently increasing production and limiting errors in the field.
Kevin then made the move to Pulte Homes where he worked as an architectural intern. As a drafter for Pulte, he worked on townhouses, single family homes, and condos projects. Through hard work, he became a Project Architect for Pulte Homes, handling Stoneridge Builder’s large estates. During that time he acquired the award of "Architect Intern of the Year" from Pulte Homes and had a firm reputation for accuracy and detail on drawings. His duties included Autocad drafting, staff training, team supervising, scheduling, field coordination and interface, and project coordination.
After leaving Pulte, Kevin worked for Residential Design Group in Woodbridge, Virginia as a Project Manager. His job duties included drafting, supervising interns, training, client interface, field trouble shooting/coordination, contractor interface, and scheduling. While at RDG, Kevin created construction drawings for such clients as Equity Homes, Westbrook Homes, Bison Builders, Fairfield Homes, Fortis Homes, P.C. Homes, Highgrove L.L.C., the Fortress Group, Sunstar Homes, K Hovnanian, and Pulte Homes. My freelance work included Logan & Gattas LLC, Bibey Construction, Appalachian Log Structures, as well as many designing custom houses.
