History

1992-1993
Graduated from Central Maine Technical College (Auburn Maine Campus) with an Associates degree in Architecture and Civil Engineering.

Worked summers as a carpenter for Appalachian Log Structures out of Culpeper Virginia. Learned hands-on carpentry by actually building houses. From framing, roofing and dry walling, to trim work; I learned the basic principles of construction.

Also worked as a temporary drafter for Amerlink Log Homes in Rocky Mount, North Carolina designing custom log homes for home owners. This was only a three month stint, but I learned a lot about how to present construction drawings in CAD format in clear but detailed formats to help out builders.

1993-1994
Worked for Pulte Homes in Fairfax Virginia as an architectural intern drafter. I drafted townhouses, single family homes, and condos. After hard work and valuable knowledge earned, in only eight months I moved up in rank to become a Project Architect for Pulte Homes, handling Stoneridge Builder’s large estates. During that time I acquired such awards as "Architect Intern of the Year" from Pulte Homes and had a firm reputation for accuracy and detail on drawings. In the summer, I worked side jobs building decks and framing. Duties: Autocad drafting, staff training, team supervising, scheduling, field coordination and interface, and project coordination.

1995-1999
Worked for Residential Design Group in Woodbridge, Virginia as a Project Manager. My job duties included drafting, supervising interns, training, client interface, field trouble shooting/coordination, contractor interface, and scheduling. I generated AutoCad drawings for such clients as Equity Homes, Westbrook Homes, Bison Builders, Fairfield Homes, Fortis Homes, P.C. Homes, Highgrove L.L.C., the Fortress Group, Sunstar Homes, K Hovnanian, and Pulte Homes. My freelance work from included Logan & Gattas LLC, Bibey Construction, Appalachian Log Structures, as well as many custom houses.

2000
I started Vogel Drafting Inc. in January of 2000 after relocating from Northern Virginia to the Fredericksburg Area. Vogel Drafting specializes in design and drafting of single family and townhouses. We have a long list of clients from Virginia and Maryland which include Aaronal Homes, Sona Custom Homes, Pulte Homes, NVP Inc., Capital City Builders, M.E. Smith Builders, and American Heritage Homes. While working for Pulte Homes as a sub-contractor, we have drafted houses in Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, and Massachusetts.

2007
In March of 2007, Vogel Drafting was relocated to Vermont for family reasons and due to a market shift in the housing industry. The bulk of the work completed by Vogel Drafting in 2006 originated anywhere from New York to Virginia proving that our location was not important. At this time Vogel Drafting employs two drafters and I am spending about one week per month in Virginia. If you are a Virginia client interested in meeting with me, please don't hesitate to call.
